MEMSA CEO, Lehlohonolo Molloyi and SAMPEC Chairman, Savvas Pouroullis, together with the Mandela Mining Precinct Director, Johan le Roux, Martin Pretorius (Programme Manager – Longevity of Current Mines and Mechanised Mining Systems Programmes), Michelle Pienaar (Programme Manager – Advanced Orebody Programme) and CSIRs Hartmut Brodner (Business Development Manager – Mining at the CSIR) hosted Creating an Enabling Environment for the South African mining sector, at Expo 2020 Dubai on Friday 18th March.
The vision of the Mandela Mining Precinct, together with industry clusters SAMPEC and MEMSA, is to create a physical and virtual space for innovation through collaboration between public/private sector entities.
The session introduced the Mandela Mining Precinct as a unique partnership, sharing its vision, and allowing key entities within the ecosystem to present their role in supporting innovation in the sector.
The session ended with a panel discussion on current trends and opportunities for local and international innovation partnerships.
