Bird Machines (Pty) Ltd

Bird Machines was established in 1952, and designs, manufactures and services a range of trackless underground mining machines. It is situated in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in South Africa. Bird Machines provides standard mechanisation solutions (with some customization to suite unique requirements) to the underground mining industry. The first manufactured mining machines were designed for the application of lime stone dust to the roof, walls and floors of underground collieries. The range of equipment manufactured has expanded over the years and now includes Multi-Purpose Vehicles (Cassette Carriers), Utility Vehicles, Maintenance Units, Scissors Lifts, Dump Trucks (tipping and rear eject), Personnel Carriers, All Wheel Steer Flatbed vehicles, Pipe Manipulators, Road Compactors, Graders, Agicars, Roof Scalers, Rock Breakers, Haulers (Tractors) and a number of other machines to meet specific client requirements.

Most vehicles are available in flameproof (coal mines) or standard configuration (hard rock mines). Bird Machines also repairs and rebuilds equipment to extend their economic life. The company’s main focus is on the Southern Africa market. Our equipment has been exported to other international countries e.g. Australia, China, Chile, India and Zambia. The provision of after sales service, and the prompt and efficient supply of spare parts, is a vital part of developing and maintaining a long-term relationship with mining companies. For this reason Sales, Service and Spare Parts branches were established in Bethal (coal mines), Rustenburg (platinum mines) and Burgersfort (platinum mines). The company continuously invests in new developments to create solutions for our customers that will improve safety and productivity in their operations. Bird Machines is ISO9001 accredited and strives for a zero injury work environment. Bird Machines is built on the three pillars of QUALITY, SERVICE and INNOVATION
