SHIFTING GROUND

Together Driving the Future of Mining Technology

Become a member

Mining Equipment Manufacturers of South Africa (MEMSA), an industry cluster established in 2016 with the support of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), works hard to build a competitive advantage for South African mining equipment manufacturers by providing access to key markets and championing existing and future local technology and innovation.

Located in the heart of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) managed Mandela Mining Precinct, MEMSA is recognised by, and benefits from a close working relationship with the Department of Minerals Resources and Energy (DMRE), the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Minerals Council of South Africa (MCSA).

Testimonials

Drill Rod Specialist (DRS) has benefited immensely from MEMSA membership. Most specifically in the opportunity to attend training in executive change management, as well as competitive manufacturing techniques.
MEMSA enabled DRS to access dtic funded initiatives such as participation in Investing in African Mining Indaba and the Outward Selling Mission to WAMPEX in Ghana. Interaction with fellow members has also broadened our understanding of the mining industry and additional business that DRS does with other members.

MEMSA had played a key role in representing Bell and other MEMSA members in resolving disputes with National, provincial and local government. As a neutral party protecting the interests of local manufacturers who compete against importers. MEMSA was represented at the recent mining Indaba where we were given an opportunity to address the opening ceremony which had the effect of highlighting the need to support local manufacturers to a broader audience who were otherwise unaware of the impact of not supporting local manufacturers.
